Scriptures for Comfort

In times of uncertainty and struggle, people often turn to their own faith, places of worship, or other faith-based organizations in their community to search for hope and comfort.

You were created as an intricate and uniquely complex sexual being with intellect, emotions, and desire to be in a relationship with others. Since you are not a simple one-dimensional being, it’s important to take care of all parts of yourself - mind, body, emotions, and spirit.

Focusing on faith when you’re anxious, depressed, and worried often helps.

Meditate using Bible verses to fight anxiety and depression

I created this slideshow - just for you! Press the play button on my SoundCloud bar and then read each verse. Which one speaks to you?

Is there a specific Bible verse that helps you when you feel anxious, worried, or in times of distress? Don’t see it here? Send me an email with the Bible verse and reference and I will do my best to get your verse added.

Explore the Psalms

There are 150 Psalms and 85 constantly address comments directly to God. Twenty-two of those Psalms include emotional distress or complaints to God (here are the 22 Psalms 10, 13, 22, 38, 39, 42, 43, 57, 64, 73, 74, 77, 83, 86, 88, 102, 109, 120, 130, 141, 142 and 143).

Read each Psalm listed above individually. As you are reading, take note of the ones that really seem to “speak to you” and the way you are currently feeling. Click here for the Honest to God journaling exercise.

Create a visual scripture journal

Use this time to explore and study God’s Word in a new, deeper, or more meaningful way than you have in the past.

My friend Sara from Signs and Such has an idea of how you can get creative while journaling during your bible study time. Watch her explain how she “doodles the word”.

Check out some of her great freebies! She has FREE coloring sheets and FREE Bible Study resources for you to download. You can also purchase her Doodle the Word journal that provides space for your own work, plus a few of Sara’s own hand-drawn designs for you to color.

I have learned now that while those who speak about one’s miseries usually hurt, those who keep silence hurt more.
