Music for the Soul

Music is a tool that you can use to help regulate your emotions by giving you a way to describe exactly how you feel when it’s hard to find the words on your own.

I’d like to introduce you to my friend, Steve Siler, songwriter and visionary with Music for the Soul. In the video below, he’ll explain more about how trauma impacts your brain and the way music helps to heal. As a songwriter, he has written and created a library of songs that speak to various issues.

find songs to facilitate your healing

listen to some music now…

Before starting, check-in with yourself:

  1. On a scale from 1 - 10 (10 is high and 1 is low), where is my _______(list your feeling word) right now?

  2. Write it down and make a note of it in your journal, on your phone - somewhere.

  3. Explore the music library at Music for the Soul and select a song (and lyrics) that speak to you and journal about it.

  4. Or, visit my instrumental playlist or faith & encouragement playlist on SoundCloud to find music that helps to either define or regulate your mood and journal about it.

Afterwards, check-in with yourself again:

  1. On a scale from 1 - 10 (10 is high and 1 is low), where is my _______(list your feeling word) right now?

  2. Write it down in your journal.

  3. Pay attention to how you are feeling now and write about your experience in your journal to share with me at your next session.
